Habibi Ya Eini
(Darling, Oh My Eyes!)
Darling, oh my eyes! Oh my eyes, my nights!
You who has been keeping me awake [literally, making my eyes not sleep]
During my day and nights
Honestly, I’ve missed
I promise your eyes
You who is separated from us
I have missed your eyes.
In your presence, “the father of Darkness/Brunette”
The night becomes more enjoyable [While we’re sitting together it’s more fun]
And the beautiful one prolongs its life
And we sing “ya einee ya leil” [“oh my eyes, oh the night”]
Singing is the life of the soul
Heals the wounded heart
Let’s dance and sing
And let’s live in the most beautiful paradise
This month’s Oriental choreography is Habibi Ya Eini by Nourhanne, a popular Lebanese performer.
“Nourhanne’s music has her personal stamp that doesn’t look like anyone else’s and no one can perform like her, at whatever age, with such an innocent sensuality, one that seems to be of her own invention. The swift accent of Nourhanne’s Star is the stuff of Lebanese Armenian legend.”
